Seminar 8 February 2006: Use of patient information in research
The Advisory Group held its first seminar on Wednesday 8 February at the Royal Society of Medicine in London. The purpose of the event was to describe the role that PIAG plays both in information and research governance, and the use of patient information in research or for other secondary uses. Members of PIAG reflected on what had been learned from experience over the four years since PIAG's inception in December 2001. The speakers drew upon three case studies to demonstrate the kinds of issues debated. Attendees were invited to contribute their views on the work of PIAG and how it might develop further.
