Vacancy for Chair through the Appointments Commission
The current Chair of The Advisory Group on Hepatitis is standing down
at the end of December 2008, and therefore we are looking to appoint
a new Chair as a replacement. The successful candidate will be required
to take up post from January 2009. The Chair will provide leadership
to the AGH and will be responsible for its effective operation. Candidates
will be either a senior doctor or scientist with an interest in viral
hepatitis and a proven record of achievement and personal credibility
within their own field. In addition, candidates will be an experienced
and effective committee chair with the ability to harness contributions
from a range of members with expertise in different fields, and a good
communicator who is able to present complex issues in clear and simple
language to the public, healthcare professionals and media if necessary.
Time commitment, location and allowances:
The AGH usually meets 3 times a year for full-day meetings at a Central
London venue. Some work in between meetings will also be required. Members
are entitled to allowances for subsistence and travel, whilst on AGH
business, at standard Health Protection Agency rates. The appointment
will be for an initial period of up to 3 years.
