Deenan Pillay trained in Biochemistry and Medicine at the Universities of London,
Sheffield and Newcastle upon Tyne. Post graduate training in clinical virology
was undertaken at St Thomas' Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital, London. Following
a Fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, in 1994 he become Consultant
Virologist and Head of the (then) PHLS Antiviral Unit in Birmingham.
In
2004 he moved to University College London and became Professor of Virology in
2006. He also is Lead in Antivirals at the Centre for Infections, Health
Protection Agency. His clinical and research interests are in antiviral
therapy, and the biology and epidemiology of transmitted antiviral drug resistance. |
