Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation
Freedom of information publication scheme

Welcome

The Freedom of Information Act (2000) requires every public body to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme for the purposes of providing information to the public about the organisation. The purpose of the Act is to promote greater openness by public bodies.

This Publication Scheme for the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation has been prepared in response to provide information under Act.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) is an independent expert advisory committee first set up in 1963. Its Terms of Reference are:
"To advise the Secretaries of State for Health, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on matters relating to communicable diseases, preventable and potentially preventable through immunisation."

Our Publication Scheme is a guide to the information we routinely publish. It is available from the JCVI Website http://www.advisorybodies.doh.gov.uk/jcvi/index.htm where a large amount of information about the work of the Committee can be found. The Scheme is reviewed annually. A paper copy of this Scheme is available on request for those without ready access to the internet.

The Chair of JCVI is responsible for this Publication Scheme; the Administrative Secretary of the Committee is responsible for its day-to-day operation.
