Christopher Whitty Professor of International Health, London School of Hygiene
and Tropical Medicine Chair of National Expert Panel New & Emerging Infections Professor
Christopher Whitty trained in medicine and infectious diseases in Oxford, Edinburgh,
London and Malawi. He has postgraduate training in epidemiology (London School
of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine - LSHTM), economics and medical law. He
is Professor of International Health at the Department of Infectious and Tropical
Disease, LSHTM and Honorary Consultant Physician at The Hospital for Tropical
Diseases and University College London. He is also Honorary Consultant Epidemiologist
at the Malaria Reference Laboratory, Health Protection Agency and Director of
the Malaria Centre, LSHTM. Professor Whitty is Chair of the Department of
Health's National Expert Panel on New and Emerging Infections (NEPNEI). His research
interests include epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases
in low-resource settings and imported infections. |
